Cybersecurity M&A Roundup for January 2022

Fifteen acquisitions were announced in the first half of January 2022.

Cerberus Sentinel acquires True Digital Security

MSSP and cybersecurity consulting company Cerberus Sentinel announced the acquisition of True Digital Security, which provides security operations center (SOC) and other cybersecurity services. True Digital will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Cerberus Sentinel. The deal will help Cerberus expand its security services and network monitoring capabilities.

ConvergeOne acquires Integration Partners

Cloud technology solutions provider ConvergeOne has acquired IT services engineering firm Integration Partners. Both companies offer managed cybersecurity services. ConvergeOne said the deal will enable it to expand in the United States.

Corvus acquires Tarian

Cyber insurance company Corvus has announced buying UK-based cyber underwriting platform Tarian Underwriting Limited from Beat Capital Partners. Following the acquisition, Tarian will become Corvus Underwriting Limited. Tarian’s global presence will help Corvus expand its international footprint.

Dataprise acquires Global Data Vault

IT and cybersecurity services provider Dataprise has acquired Global Data Vault, which specializes in data protection, disaster recovery and backup services. Dataprise said the acquisition will help it expand its disaster-recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) and data protection offerings.

DigiCert acquires Mocana

TLS, IoT and other PKI solutions provider DigiCert has acquired IoT cybersecurity company Mocana. The deal will help accelerate DigiCert’s presence in the IoT market, and their combined technologies will provide IoT manufacturers and operators a comprehensive platform for managing security across the IoT device lifecycle.

Executech acquires Dyrand Systems

US-based IT and cybersecurity services provider Executech has acquired Canada-based IT support provider Dyrand systems. Dyrand will continue to operate as a stand-alone entity under its current brand. Dyrand says the affiliation with Executech will enable it to provide “more robust cybersecurity tools and services” to its clients.

Flashpoint acquires Risk Based Security

Threat intelligence company Flashpoint has acquired Risk Based Security (RBS), which specializes in vulnerability and data breach intelligence. Vulnerability data and technology from RBS will be integrated into Flashpoint’s platform.

Godspeed Capital acquires Exceptional Software Strategies

Private equity firm Godspeed Capital has acquired Exceptional Software Strategies (ESS), a government contractor specializing in cybersecurity, software and systems engineering. ESS will join Godspeed’s recently formed cyber and technology solutions platform holding company.

Google acquires Siemplify

Google has expanded its push into the cybersecurity business with a new deal to acquire Siemplify, an Israeli startup selling SOAR technology. Google acquired Siemplify reportedly for $500 million, and it plans on pairing the company’s SOAR technology with its own Chronicle platform.

Kiteworks acquires totemo

Content governance, compliance and protection solutions provider Kiteworks has acquired Switzerland-based totemo, which specializes in email encryption, secure managed file transfer, and secure mobile communication. The acquisition will help Kiteworks automate and extend its platform's email encryption capability.

Proofpoint acquires Dathena

Proofpoint announced buying Dathena, a Singapore-based company that specializes in data protection. Proofpoint said the deal will help strengthen its enterprise information protection offering.

Recorded Future acquires SecurityTrails

Threat intel company Recorded Future is shelling out $65 million to purchase SecurityTrails, a startup that helps organizations keep track of internet-facing assets. With this transaction, Recorded Future gets a direct entry into the competitive Continuous Attack Surface Management business.

SilverSky acquires Cygilant

Managed detection and response (MDR) firm SilverSky has acquired cybersecurity-as-as-service provider Cygilant. The transaction will help SilverSky expand globally and gain cybersecurity and data science talent.

Thrive acquires InCare Technologies

Managed services provider (MSP) Thrive has acquired MSP InCare Technologies. The acquisition will enable Thrive to extend its cloud and cybersecurity managed services platform to clients in the Southern United States.

VC3 acquires CW Technology

Managed services provider VC3 announced the acquisition of IT management services provider CW Technology. Both companies offer cybersecurity services.
