Oak9 Lands $8 Million in New Venture Investment

Chicago-based Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) startup oak9 has attracted new interest from venture capitalists with Cisco Investments and Morgan Stanley’s Next Level Fund joining a new $8 million funding round.

The latest financing, led by existing investor Menlo Ventures, brings the total raised by oak9 to $14 million following a $5.9 million seed round the company closed last June.

The company said it will use the funds in part to grow its free Community Edition and help launch a next-gen Security as Code offering.

“It’s a critical time in the IaC security space,” said oak9 co-founder and CEO Raj Datta. “We’re seeing it all over the market: companies simply cannot hire enough security engineers to ensure proper security in their IaC and cloud environments.”

Datta and his investors are betting that automated tools can provide relief to businesses looking to reduce costs and exposure to hacking attacks

Oak9 markets a platform that can be used by security teams to find, analyze, and remediate security and compliance issues in real-time, as changes occur in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and deployed cloud workloads.
