Keep Aware Raises $2.4M to Eliminate Browser Blind Spots

Texas startup Keep Aware has attracted $2.4 million in early stage venture capital investment to work on technology to protect web browsers from malicious hacker attacks.

Keep Aware, based in Austin, said the seed-stage funding was led by LiveOak Venture Partners. The company said Runtime Ventures and prominent angel investors in the cybersecurity industry also took equity positions.

Keep Aware is building what it calls a human-centric browser security platform that provides protection against browser-based attacks like credential phishing, email spoofing, social engineering and malicious extensions.

“[We embed] security directly into the user interface and operates in the considerable gray area where, without context, the risk level of any specific activity may be unclear. When a threat is detected, Keep Aware immediately involves both the employee and security team in its resolution by assessing intent and alerting them to suspicious and dangerous actions,” the company said.

The company said its technology deploys directly to industry-standard browsers, and integrates seamlessly into an employee’s existing workflow.
Keep Aware is promising businesses browser protection from username and password theft, social engineering, malicious extensions and tools to help with behavior-based risk identification, automated investigations, and logging for auditing and compliance.

Keep Aware plans to use the new capital to speed up product development and establish go-to-market programs.
